Marilee Guthrie grew up in Palos Heights, and when Marilee married her first husband, Paul Rusthoven, who passed away. Marilee joined Calvary when the church was built on 151st and 80th avenue. Marilee loves to listen to and sing the hymns that she grew up worshiping with. Marilee’s favorite hymn, the one she sings often in some of the challenging and difficult times in her life or valley’s is What a Day Glorious Day that Will Be.

There are many Bible verses that Marilee recites or prays when walking the dog but the words that resonate with Marilee from the song is -

There’ll be no sorrow there,

No more burdens to bear,

No more sickness, no pain,

No more parting over there;

And forever I will be,

With the One who died for me,

What a day, glorious day that will be.

Marilee is married to her husband Jim. Has four children. One daughter’s home is in heaven with the Lord. A daughter lives in Illinois, and two sons live out of state. Marilee has six grandchildren. Marilee works at Calvary Church as the Facility Director since 1986.
